Painting a Denim Jacket

We have all found ourselves indoors more lately with lots of time on our hands.  It can be easy to get a little claustrophobic and overwhelmed.  Instead of giving in to those grey feelings, change your perspective.  This is a perfect time to connect with your family and yourself!  Here at Linda’s Art Spot, we would like to offer some ideas for inspiring projects that you can do alone or with your family.

We’re willing to bet that you have an old denim jacket or pair of jeans in your closet or your kids’ closet that is ready for a refresher.  Maybe it’s a garment that is so well loved, it’s looking a little worn.  Or maybe you just don’t love it that much and never seem to wear it.  Either way, a little paint and creativity could take you from blah to yeah!

This tutorial from Jacquard is a great source of inspiration.  It shows you exactly what you will need to get started with your masterpiece, has lots of helpful tips and explains the step by step process.

Linda’s Art Spot carries a variety of paints that work great on fabric.

Jacquard Lumiere Metallic Paint gives a stunning metallic shine.  Soft to the touch and washfast on fabric, Lumiere colors can be bright, metallic or subtle, even on dark backgrounds. Their high pigmentation provides excellent coverage.

Jacquard Neopaque  is a high quality, light-bodied super opaque paint. Neopaque paints spread smoothly and stay flexible.  They are designed to last, without cracking or peeling.

We also carry Jacquard Textile Paint.  These textile paints  leave fabric as soft as possible and hold up exceptionally well to washing.  Jacquard Textile Color never chips, cracks or peels, even with repeated wear and washing.

What denim are you thinking of painting?  We’d love to see your projects!  Send us a photo of your painted denim jacket or any other project you are working on right now.
